Teachers can reduce the occurrence of problem behaviors by taking measures to modify the learning environment. They can rearrange the physical classroom environment, alter the schedule, and adapt learning activities to meet students' needs. In this way, mismatches between the setting and the student are minimized and appropriate behavior is encouraged. Problem behaviors are sometimes brought on by a mismatch between the classroom setting or academic demands and the student's strengths, preferences, or skills.
